Bac Giang is located in North Vietnam, surrounded by Lang Son and Thai Nguyen to the north, Hai Duong and Bac Ninh to the south, Hanoi to the west, and Quang Ninh to the east. The main ethnic groups in this area are the Kinh, Tay, Nung, San Chay, San Diu, and Hoa.

The climate in Bac Giang can be divided into two distinct seasons: the hot, rainy season lasts from May to September; the cold, dry season lasts from November to March. The average temperature is 24ฐ C.
