Hung Yen is located in the North Vietnam Plains and Midlands surrounded by Bac Ninh to the north, Hai Duong to the east, Thai Binh and Ha Nam to the south, and Ha Tay and Hanoi to the west. The main ethnic groups living in this area are the Kinh, Hoa, San Diu, and Tay.
