Thoi
son Island:
Taking a boat ride for 45 minutes on the Mekong River from My Tho, you
will reach Thoi son Island where you can visit lush orchards and taste
delicious fresh fruit.
Cai Be Floating
Market:
a special form of market held on the Mekong River. You can enjoy the folk
cultural activities of the inhabitants in the western part of Nam Bo
(South Vietnam proper).
The Cai Be floating market is some 42km
from My Tho City. After shopping in the market, you can visit orchards on
Tan Phong Island, which is best known for its vast rambutan gardens.
Cai
Mon Fruit Tree Garden (Lach Market Place) :
Cai
Mon is located on the bank of the Tien River in the village of Tien Thuy
in the Chau Thanh District. It is considered the cradle of fruit trees in
South Vietnam, with fruit ready for visitors in any season. Cai Mon’s
professional village annually supplies millions of products, such as
durians, mangos teens, mangoes and longans.
There are also
artists who use grafting techniques to create fantastic ornamental plants
is the shapes of deer, dragons or phoenixes
Dong Tam Snake-Breeding Farm :
Dong
Tam is the centre of snake breeding for taking venom for exportation, as
well as medicinal plant cultivation and the study and treatment of
snake-bites, for people in the Cuu Long River Delta. The farm is 9 km from
My Tho. There is a snake-breeding zone with dozens of species to feed or
even to play with. There are also crocodiles and other species of birds
and animals on hand.
Vinh
Trang
Pagoda :
Vinh Trang Pagoda, located in a large garden in
My Phong commune, My Tho, in Tien Giang province, was built by Mr. and
Mrs. Bui Cong Dat in the early 19th century. From 1849, the pagoda was
managed by Buddhist Priest Hue Dang from Giac Lam Pagoda in Ho Chi Minh
City. He led people to refine the pagoda and named it Vinh Trang Pagoda.
The structure was built in a mixture of Chinese,
Vietnamese, and Angkor (Cambodian) architectural styles. The pagoda
consists of 5 buildings, 2 ornamental yards, and 178 pillars. Graves
of Buddhist priests who took care of the pagoda are scattered around.
These graves are decorated with carefully engraved flagstones. |
