Tuyen Quang is located in Viet Bac, in the northern part of the country. It is characterized by majestic elevated mountains with peaks exceeding 2,000 m above sea level. More than half of the province’s population consists of the Kinh ethnic group; there are also Tay, Dao, and Nung ethnic groups.

Famous sites include Tan Trao Communal House and Hong Thai Communal House (accommodation for delegates from different parts of the country who came to attend National Congress meetings).

The Northern province of Tuyen Quang is characterized by majestic high mountain with many peaks of more than 2,000 m above sea level. It is covered by a large area of forest, mostly primeval, and is abundant in rare, precious timber trees and as many as 1,000 species of medicinal herbs and plants.

In summer and autumn, the weather is cool with a lot of rain, which sometimes causes flash floods. In winter it is cold and foggy. The province has an annual average temperature of 22,4^oC.
